A plurality of voters see themselves as moderate, but feel that national Republicans and Democrats in Congress and President Obama don’t reflect their views, placing them more towards the polar ends of the political spectrum.
- Voters are just beginning to assess the potential 2016 candidates, but Chris Christie is seen as moderate by 59% of Republicans and 66% of Independents, but just 47% of Democrats. Rand Paul was seen as moderate by 46% of voters, and Jeb Bush as moderate by 41%.
- Hillary Clinton was seen as moderate by 32% of all voters, although her ratings are driven by overwhelming numbers of Republicans (71%) who view her as liberal.
